Happy Friday everyone, and happy bank holiday! It looks like we could be set for a beautiful long weekend of weather, and if you’re out and about in Oakley Vale we want to see your pics!
Why? Well you might’ve seen that we have just launched some new web pages we’ve been working away on behind the scenes for a few months. We detailed them a bit in our last blog post, but here’s a reminder:
Picture of the Month – Oakley Vale and its surroundings have some areas of outstanding beauty, perfect for walks, and made even better by the changing seasons throughout the year. We wanted to showcase this and what better way than through the cameras of local residents! On this page you can submit your photos of Oakley Vale into our Picture of the Month competition. People will be able to vote on the pictures submitted and the winner will feature on our website and become our cover photo on our Facebook & Twitter for the next month!
I love it here… – This page is dedicated to the people who make Oakley Vale what it is – the local residents, businesses and institutions. It features profiles of local people talking about what brought them to Oakley Vale, why they love it and how they’d describe the community in 5 words. We already have a selection of profiles from local people, but we’re looking for residents to contribute all the time so send us an email or message on social media to see the questions and be a part of our site!
So if you’re out this weekend get snapping and submit your pictures – from your iPhone, or camera, whatever it may be!
In other news, a bank holiday means it is the end of the month and June is upon us. With that in mind, here are some highlights coming up next month:
Monday 29th of May – Lakeland Hopsice Fun Day & Dog Show At East Carlton Park from 12noon there will be an abundance of activities, from the Lakelands Fair with stalls and tombola to the Lakelands Dogshow! Plus Dance Perfomances, Children’s Rides and Inflatable Fun.
Saturday 3rd of June – INTERS GTI INTERNATIONAL 2017 – The UK’s biggest event for high performance VW and Audio group vehicles is taking place at Rockingham Castle! See more.
Sunday 11th of June – Corby Lions Funday – At East Carlton Country Park from 11am – 4pm. Classic Cars, Archery, Highland Dancers, Crafts & Charity Stalls, Carnival Princesses, Ukele Band, Dog Show, Grand Prize Draw, Bouncy Castle, Children’s Rides & Games.
Sunday 18th of June – Jousting & Medieval Living History Village – The Knights of Nottingham & the Oxford Household make a thrilling return to Rockingham Castle. 12noon – 5pm. You’ll want to see this!
