Christmas Eve comes early & Cake not Hate for Corby!

Happy Thursday – Yes it’s a bit of an early blog from us this week!

November is nearly passed and that means December is here and Christmas grows ever closer! We’ll have some info on a unique Christmas event that’s coming this weekend, but first we wanted to highlight a great event going on next week.

Corby Council’s community safety team is aiming to bring people together raise awareness about hate crime. The council is inviting everyone to its free ‘Cake not Hate’ event being held in the council chamber in the Corby Cube from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Monday (November 27).

Throughout the day there will be displays, information, hot drinks and cake, with short presentations from various people. There will be a presentation about what hate crime is and how to report it from the force hate crime coordinator at Northamptonshire Police.

This is a really great event and an opportunity to talk about a very important topic in an informal way!

Now a look to some events coming up this weekend including something special at Rockingham Castle:

Christmas Eve 1849 @ Rockingham Castle – 24th Nov – It’s Christmas Eve 1849 and the Castle is decorated to help you step back in time to a thoroughly Victorian Christmas. Guided tours throughout Rockingham Castle in period costume take place throughout the day. Find out more.

Circus of Horrors: Voodoo Vaudevil @ The Core – 24th Nov – This spectacular show features an amazing amalgamation of bizarre, brave and beautiful acts, all woven into a sensational horror story, performed with a forked tongue firmly in each cheek.  Get tickets here.

Ed Byrne: Spoiler Alert @ The Core – 25th Nov – Ed returns to the road this year after a total sell-out Edinburgh Fringe run with his biggest ever tour to date and his brand new show called Spoiler Alert. Ed explores the thin line between righteous complaining and brat-like whining and asks, ‘are we right to be fed up, or are we spoiled?’ Come and watch as Byrne takes this question, turns it upside down and shakes it until the funny falls out.  Go on, spoil yourself! Get tickets.

Uppingham Fatstock Show @ Uppingham – 29th Nov – A bit further afield for this one! This historic event, one of only a handful nationally draws large crowds and a wonderful pre-Christmas atmosphere. There are prizes and often an auction to rounds events off. Brilliant for young children who can get close to the animals. Must see! Take a look at the Facebook event page here.

Have a great weekend folks!
