Summer fun awaits… we hope!

Hello and welcome to the July addition of the Oakley Vale blog – we hope you’ve been keeping well and safe.

This month, we can keep our fingers crossed for the final easing of all Covid-19 restrictions and hope for the chance to see all sorts of summer fun in Oakley Vale once again. But while we wait in eager anticipation, we have lots to cover so let’s get right down to it!

And the winner is…

Perhaps most importantly, this month we can now announce the WINNER of our Nature & Wildlife photo competition! So without further ado, we’re delighted to say that Michelle Martin has won for this wonderful picture of the swans of Oakley Vale lake.

Her picture wonderfully captures these nesting swans caught in a moment of romance!

We received so many great photos of the birds, bugs and animals around Oakley Vale, and want to thank you all for your wonderful submissions!

We’ll soon be announcing the next theme for people of all ages and skill to enter, so stay tuned on our social media for all the latest information. If you fancy a shot, we run the competition every quarter and £50 is up for grabs for the winning entry! To find out more, click here.

Don’t forget about our community survey

Also this month, we wanted to remind you about our community survey which we’ve launched to get the community’s view on how our website and social channels can best serve the residents of Oakley Vale.

We’ve received plenty of responses but are looking to get even more views, opinions and feedback from you. For those of you who don’t know, it covers questions on our website, social media, and how you’ve found Covid-19. It shouldn’t take any longer than ten minutes to complete so please do get involved and answer as truthfully as you can – it would really help us out and ensure you’re the one driving forward change.

Take the survey here.

Remember to share it far and wide with your family and friends so we can get their views and feedback too!

Positive news and events returning as restrictions ease!

We’re all hoping that things can go back to normal soon but even if they don’t, we just wanted to say that we’ve been inspired by the community spirit during this challenging time. In June, local stories like the Corby Business Centre’s incredible bounce-back, The Core commissioning art inspired by the pandemic, and Millie Eliza Best who was born on the stroke of lockdown, kept us all going and lifted our spirits.

If things do return to normal, then we have a whole load of events to look forward to. The Corby Cube has re-opened for live shows and are hosting some fantastic events – take a look for yourself and book early!

All that’s left to say is that we hope everyone has a great month! Remember to keep smiling and stay safe– see you in July!
