What’s on this March in Oakley Vale: Spring, events, and ways to celebrate mum

March has arrived, bringing with it the first true whispers of spring and fresh sense of energy across Oakley Vale. It’s a month of milestones and movement, where we shift from the cozy huddles of winter to the hearty community spirit that defines our local area.

Whether you’re looking to challenge yourself with a 5k, enjoy a night of world-class tribute music, or find the perfect way to say “thank you” to the leading ladies in your life this Mother’s Day, our local calendar is bursting with opportunity.

So, put the kettle on, settle into your favourite chair, and read what March has in store.

A quarter century of care: Celebrate 25 years with Lakelands Hospice

We are starting the month with a very special celebration. Lakelands Hospice is turning 25, and its team is marking this silver anniversary by hosting the Oakley Vale Silver 5k Walk on Monday, 9th March – and the whole community is invited to join!

The hospice is encouraging everyone to don their best silver, glittery, and shimmery outfits to mark the occasion. Designed to be an inclusive event, the event is both dog friendly and wheelchair accessible, meaning the entire family (four-legged members included!) can take part. After you’ve completed your 5km through the fresh spring air, you can look forward to well-deserved bacon rolls and hot drinks.

Every step taken helps support the vital work Lakelands does for its patients, making it a celebration with real heart.

For more details on how to get involved, reach out to Stacey at stacey@lakelandshospice.org.uk.

Aiming high for a good cause

The support for Lakelands Hospice doesn’t stop with the silver walk. To round out the month, our very own Great Oakley Cricket Club is hosting a Darts Tournament on Tuesday 31st March. It’s a brilliant way to spend an evening with friends while raising vital funds to help the hospice continue its essential work in our community.

Entry is just £8, and with a licensed bar and free parking on-site, it’s set to be a fantastic night for players and spectators alike.
