Welland Gliding Club

Found in the heart of Northeast Northamptonshire between Corby and Oundle, the Welland Gliding Club offers an unforgettable experience and outstanding views of the rolling countryside. The club provides lessons if you are interested in becoming a pilot.

Savoy Cinema

The £6 million Savoy cinema, which opened in 2015, seats up to 900 people. There are a number of restaurants also located within the building including Nandos and Prezzo.

Corby Cube

The Corby Cube, opened in 2010, is a state-of-the-art concrete and glass civic centre boasting a 445-seat theatre, public library, register office and a new council chamber. The Core theatre has a programme of live productions, dance, music and standup comedy. It also screens films twice a week, including current mainstream and independent releases.

Charter Court

Oakley Vale’s shopping district is conveniently located on Butland Road, meaning you don’t need to leave the area to run errands. The services available at Charter Court include a Tesco Extra, a dentist, a pharmacy and various fast food outlets.

Willow Place

This £40 million modern shopping and leisure environment has free Wi-Fi for shoppers and 1000 car parking spaces ensuring easy access. Willow Place is home to over 120 shops, including many big name brands, plus bars, restaurants and coffee shops.

Oakley Vale

The Oakley Vale development has been designed to include hills and slopes, lakes and green areas to enjoy. Take a relaxing weekend or after-work stroll around one of Oakley Vale’s picturesque lakes popular with birds and local wildlife. Fishing is also permitted on the lakes.

Fermyn Woods Country Park

Located in the heart of Rockingham Forest, the park offers access to woodlands, marshes, meadows and ponds to explore. As well as a range of rural walks, fishing is available. There is also a café and picnic area in the park.

East Carlton Countryside Park

Situated on the edge of the Welland Valley, East Carlton has many nature trails to be explored and a heritage centre featuring displays on the history of Corby and the development of the iron and steel industry in the town. There is also a popular café in the park.

Rockingham Castle

Take your little ones back in time on a medieval adventure at Rockingham Castle, built under the instructions of William the Conqueror. The Castle hosts a range of family-friendly events such as the Rockingham country fair, or jousting and medieval living demonstrations. Take in a view of the Welland Valley and cast your eye over five counties in Rockingham Castle’s impressive gardens.

Deene Park

Enjoy a Sunday stroll through the lush grounds of Deene Park during the summer months followed by a guided tour of the luxurious Tudor mansion. Finish off with a classic British cream tea in the Old Kitchen Tea Room, a fabulous setting with a wall-to-wall Victorian range.

Kirby Hall

A short drive from Oakley Vale up the A43 brings you to Kirby Hall, one of the UK’s finest examples of Elizabethan architecture. Pack a picnic and relax among the peacocks in the recently restored historical gardens.

Corby Heritage Centre

The Heritage Centre contains exhibitions and displays reflecting the rich cultural history of the local community. Located in Corby Old Village, it is open Monday to Saturday and admission is free.

Rockingham Forest

Comprising of about 200 square miles, Rockingham Forest is a must-see natural area of Northamptonshire. The forest is varied with pockets of ancient woodland, open farmland and villages. See if you can spot a red kite on your visit.

Rockingham Motor Speedway

A great day out for the whole family can be had attending an event at Rockingham Speedway. Watch supercars racing in the British GT and future F1 stars in the BRDC F3 Championship. Children aged 15 and under go free.

Wicksteed Park

Having first opened over a century ago, Wicksteed Park is a fantastic place for all the family to enjoy. Located in nearby Kettering, the park boasts 30 rides and attractions from zip lines to the classic monorail. The famous narrow gauge railway takes you on a scenic journey around the park grounds.

Priors Hall Golf Course

The 18-hole golf course is open as a pay-and-play venue, or can be joined as a member. A range of meals and drinks are available from the club house after you’ve played a round.

West Glebe Park

As well as providing a large area of greenery to enjoy, West Glebe Park has a multi-use games area, a children’s play area, skate park and BMX track. West Glebe holds regular exercise classes and a weekly park run for participants of all ages.

Adrenaline Alley

Skate, scooter or BMX your way across 120,000ft2 of ramps at Adrenaline Alley, the UK’s largest indoor street sport facility. This fantastic social enterprise is a great place for kids to hang out while parents watch from the comfort of the café.

Corby Tennis Centre

The Corby Tennis Centre has eight indoor and six outdoor tennis courts. Become a member of the tennis club or simply pay-and-play whenever you like. Tennis coaching is also available.

Weldon Woodland Park

A haven for wildlife, the 40-acre park is equipped with an adult fitness trail, a BMX track, skateboarding half pipe and two children’s play areas. There are several grassland walks to enjoy, too.

Corby Boating Lake

Located in the heart of Corby, the lake is extremely popular for coarse fishing. Home to a variety of wildlife, there is also a café, picnic area and the Boating Lake Adventure Site, a large children’s play area, to enjoy.

Fineshade Wood

The ancient conifer and broadleaf forest of Fineshade Wood provides opportunities for relaxing walks, bird-watching, cycling and horse riding. The well-equipped Top Lodge visitor centre is open from 10am to 5pm daily where you can hire bikes or enjoy a drink and snack in the café.

Corby East Midlands International Pool

Corby’s £19 million pool is a state-of-the-art leisure facility complete with an Olympic-sized pool and fun-pool for children complete with pirate ship and slide.

Local Football

The Oakley Vale FC under 15’s football team trains on Saturday mornings on Butland Road during the season.

The Great Oakley Cricket Club is always looking to sign up new members. Home to both adult and junior cricket teams, watching a match is a great way to get in the community spirit.

Traditional Pub

Oakley Vale’s local pub is Harpers Brook, part of the Marston’s group. Offering patrons great deals on food including a Sunday carvery, this family-friendly venue has an excellent beer garden to enjoy in the warmer months.

Great Oakley Park

A historic rural area of Northamptonshire, Great Oakley Park is connected to Oakley Vale by a public footpath. It’s perfect for a Sunday stroll through fields populated by a flock of Jacob sheep.

Located on Butland Road, the Community Centre holds weekly Pilates sessions, dance classes for children and adults and free music lessons. It is also home to the St Benedict’s church group which holds a Sunday service here every week.

Oakley Vale Play Area on Butland Road and Snatchill Play Area on Merestone Road cater for children of all ages. These well-equipped play parks will keep kids amused for hours.
