Rockingham Castle

Take your little ones back in time on a medieval adventure at Rockingham Castle, built under the instructions of William the Conqueror. The Castle hosts a range of family-friendly events such as the Rockingham country fair, or jousting and medieval living demonstrations. Take in a view of the Welland Valley and cast your eye over five counties in Rockingham Castle’s impressive gardens.

Deene Park

Enjoy a Sunday stroll through the lush grounds of Deene Park during the summer months followed by a guided tour of the luxurious Tudor mansion. Finish off with a classic British cream tea in the Old Kitchen Tea Room, a fabulous setting with a wall-to-wall Victorian range.

Kirby Hall

A short drive from Oakley Vale up the A43 brings you to Kirby Hall, one of the UK’s finest examples of Elizabethan architecture. Pack a picnic and relax among the peacocks in the recently restored historical gardens.

Corby Heritage Centre

The Heritage Centre contains exhibitions and displays reflecting the rich cultural history of the local community. Located in Corby Old Village, it is open Monday to Saturday and admission is free.

Local Football

The Oakley Vale FC under 15’s football team trains on Saturday mornings on Butland Road during the season.

The Great Oakley Cricket Club is always looking to sign up new members. Home to both adult and junior cricket teams, watching a match is a great way to get in the community spirit.

Traditional Pub

Oakley Vale’s local pub is Harpers Brook, part of the Marston’s group. Offering patrons great deals on food including a Sunday carvery, this family-friendly venue has an excellent beer garden to enjoy in the warmer months.

Great Oakley Park

A historic rural area of Northamptonshire, Great Oakley Park is connected to Oakley Vale by a public footpath. It’s perfect for a Sunday stroll through fields populated by a flock of Jacob sheep.

Nature Spots

Oakley Vale has been designed to include hills and slopes, lakes and green areas to enjoy. Take a relaxing weekend or after-work wander around one of Oakley Vale’s picturesque lakes, which are popular with birds and local wildlife. Fishing is also permitted on the lakes.

Oakley Vale Community Centre

Located on Butland Road, the Community Centre holds weekly Pilates sessions, dance classes for children and adults and free music lessons. It is also home to the St Benedict’s church group which holds a Sunday service here every week.

Play Parks

Oakley Vale Play Area on Butland Road and Snatchill Play Area on Merestone Road cater for children of all ages. These well-equipped play parks will keep kids amused for hours.
