Oakley Vale Community Association celebrates 10 years – Weekly Round-Up

It’s December! The mornings are a little darker and the air gets chillier by the second. Decorations are starting to pop up as families tackle the yearly dilemma of fitting the Christmas tree in the car.

Here’s a little round up of things going on in and around Oakley Vale this month:

  • There is a free Tree Planting & Dressing celebration on 8th December at the Lakeside Cabin, by the Boating Lake from 4pm – 6pm. At 5pm the Mayor will be planting an Oak tree to celebrate the Our Woods project.
  • People can also take part in a wider Woodland Trust project, which is around collecting stories about trees. They are providing leaf cut-outs for people to leave comments on – which will then be hung on a tree as part of the dressing event.
  • The Oakley Vale Community Association celebrates its 10th Anniversary on Saturday (December 3rd) with a get together at the Community Centre. There’ll be live music from Oakley Rangers, drinks and a buffet. All are welcome!
  • A new Jado Kuin Do martial arts class has started on Thursdays at the Oakley Vale Community Centre between 6:30pm and7:30pm.

More from Corby:

  • The resident artists at the Rooftop Gallery will be exhibiting some of their work for the month of December. So if you are looking for a Christmas gift, or one to put away for next year, why not buy a piece of original artwork by a local artist.
  • A Christmas Carol production is coming to The Core at Corby Cube from the 8th December through til the 31st. The Core will be transformed with candles, mince pies, mulled wine, carols and some ghostly goings-on! Ideal for ages 6 and above. Find out more.
  • What music reminds you of your homeland? – Paula Boulton’s recently composed orchestral suite, The Sounds Of Home, is inspired by Corby people’s responses to that question. Hear the world premiere of this unique composition played by the newly-formed Sounds Of Home Orchestra, conducted by Elio Andrade. Saturday 21st
