It’s #Friyay! There’s some grim weather settling in, but hopefully it won’t dampen your spirits ahead of another weekend (where do the weeks go!). This week has been a big one for Oakley Vale and Corby as a whole as it’s the Great British Spring Clean!
The Campaign has a simple ambition – to bring together people from across the country to clear up the litter that blights our towns, villages, countryside and coastline. There’s already been some great work taking place in Corby today – you can catch up on Twitter here and here.
Locals to Oakley Vale, we have our chance to do our bit tomorrow! You can join the Oakley Rangers Music Group for a litter pick starting from 3pm at Oakley Vale Community Centre.
In other exciting news the official planning permission for the sculptures being created by Richard Janes has been submitted and acknowledged by Corby Borough Council! Richard is busy pulling together all the materials he will need – a lot of the steel is being supplied by TATA – though is a look-out for fabricators in Corby, so if you know of anyone get in touch!
Also happening this weekend is the Corby Mardi Gras – a spectacular illuminated walk through East Carlton Park where members of the Corby borough can journey through the woods at twilight, discovering beautiful light sculptures as they go! Expect to find enjoyable entertainment by local musicians and dancers and be immersed in the magic by live performances! As it may be a bit cold, there will also be hot food and drinks available to purchase throughout the evening. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and wrap up warm! Read more here.
Don’t forget if you want to get in touch with us about anything then email info@wpe.spd.agency or message our Facebook or Twitter. We’re still pulling together our event calendar, which will be an exciting new addition to our website coming soon!
