Another week, another blog packed with happenings in Oakley Vale! We’ve got lots to update you on – not least our most recent followers on social media. We’ve reached 152 likes on Facebook and approaching 150 followers on Twitter – this is great news and we’re grateful to anyone and everyone who has followed us, commented on our posts or visited the website.
For those of you who attended the great inaugural Venture Autism Latin night a couple of weekends ago there is reason to be excited! The group are hoping to host another night soon and you can be involved. Contact generalstorey@hotmail.com to keep informed about the night and all the great work the group does.
The Our Woods project has been a great success in Corby and it continues this weekend. On Saturday Natural Vestige will be running a movement workshop from 10am to 1pm which explores our physical relationship with woodland. On Sunday March 19th there will be a photo workshop with a focus on local woodlands. All tickets and info at Corby Cube.
On Saturday Councillor David Sims will have his local surgery at Harpers Brook pub in Oakley Vale. Come here to raise any queries or concerns – no appointment needed!
The Oakley Vale Women’s Institute meets next Tuesday, 21st March, at 7:30pm in Brooke Weston Academy – the guest speaker will be Jane Barnes featured in ‘Tales of a Dairy Farmer’s Wife’ and she’ll be bringing cheese to taste.
The Conservative Club in Cottingham Road, are hosting a family fun day on Saturday, March 25, from midday to 3pm. This is to raise money for the family of a 10-year-old girl from the Corby area who has a very rare form of bone cancer. Read more here.
Also we’re pleased to have started liaising with Lakeland Hospice in Corby which do some great work and rely on the support of volunteers and community funding. They are hosting a great event on 31st March to fund-raise for their hospice. Nana Konadu has invited the hospice to her restaurant, Maamalicious, for an authentic Caribbean experience. Enjoy a delicious hot buffet with an array of mouth-watering Caribbean dishes, limbo dancing and afro reggae beats til late. £15 per person. To book your tickets call Marina on 01536 747755.
