Hey everybody, it’s a mid-week blog this week! But there’s plenty to cover already, so let’s get right into it.
Firstly, we’d like to say a big thank you to all those who submitted pictures and voted in our Photo of the Month competition for June. Congratulations to Claire Sager, who has won the inaugural month! Her picture is now featured on our Photo of the Month page, as well as being the cover photo on our Facebook and Twitter.
What that also means is we are open to submissions for July! Whether you’re an amateur photographer, or just out with your iPhone at a local event, we want your pictures. There’s no criteria, we just want to showcase the best of Oakley Vale, whether that’s its people, or the landscape. Maybe you’re at Corby Carnival this weekend? Sounds like a perfect opportunity for some snaps, if you ask us!
Submit photos here or via Facebook or Twitter.
On the subject of the Corby Carnival it is worth noting that on Saturday 8th July, Oldlands Road will be CLOSED to through traffic to allow the Corby Carnival Parade vehicles and participants to line up. The closure will be in operation from 11.30am until approx 1.30pm after the Parade has departed (it moves off at 1pm).
Here’s a reminder of other events coming up:
Corby Carnival – Saturday 8th July – The great Corby Carnival returns for another year of fun and festivities! There’s sure to be lots of opportunities for some great snaps, so have those cameras ready and party!
Highland Games – Sunday 9th July – The popular Highland Games are back at Charter Field in Corby Old Village with everything from Highland Dancing and Pipe Band competitions to craft stalls, displays and a funfair.
