Welcome to the weekend everyone, and it is forecasted to be hot! With all the outdoor adventure opportunities close to Oakley Vale, we think there is nowhere better to spend a scorching hot weekend!
This week we would like to start with another big congratulations to the winner of our spring photo competition, Jill Raher who lives at Violet Close in Oakley Vale. Her photograph of the blooms of spring outside the front of her Oakley Vale home is a perfect example of the beauty of nature that is all around us, and she is a very deserving winner of the £50 prize. Don’t forget that the prize is matched by a donation to the Oakley Vale Community Association!
Launch of the new photography competition!
In other exciting news, this week marks the launch of our newest photography competition celebrating summer in Oakley Vale! The photos submitted should showcase Oakley Vale at it’s absolute best in the sunshine. This could be by capturing some of the wildlife in bloom or an Oakley pet basking in the glorious sun.
Being a photography genius is not required for success in this competition, just managing to encapsulate the joys of summer in Oakley Vale. You can submit your photo’s free and easily on the Oakley Vale website here
or by submitting to our facebook or Twitter pages that both have the same handle ‘@youroakleyvale’.
Good Luck!
Corby’s First Grow Festival:
This weekend Corby is set to experience its first ever Grow Festival, based mainly in the city’s town centre. The inspiration for the festival this year is the theme of water, and based off the success of previous festivals, this one is sure to be an exciting day with workshop and performances spread across the whole weekend!
The festival is in association with Anglian Water, and the partnership is intended highlight the environmental and sustainability issues around the growing need of water. Street performers will include comic show Dick Danger, family performer Bubbleman, the Urban Life Guards, and acrobatics & dance theatre in Frantic!
This should be an unmissable event and a great opportunity to experience the culture and diversity on offer in Corby.
