Animal Snaps & Your Stories!

Happy Thursday everyone,

It’s a slightly earlier blog this week – but nonetheless busy!

We want your animal snaps!

Firstly, we want remind you that our new Photo Competition is live and awaiting your submissions! The theme for the latest iteration is Summertime & Animals of Oakley Vale and entries are welcomed until the end of September – which gives you plenty of time to get snapping.

The photos could be a funny pic of the family pet, or of the swans making their home in the Oakley Vale lake – or a beautiful view of the lakes in the sun. Anything and everything is encouraged – particularly those out-of-the-box ideas. Here’s a reminder of the key info:

Theme – Summertime & Animals of Oakley Vale

Submission deadline – September 30th

Winner announced (after voting period) – October

Happy snapping!

…and your stories!

Also we want to start exploring further what really makes Oakley Vale a great place to live. No one knows that better than you, the people who live here! With that in mind we want to hear your stories about why you love Oakley Vale. Send them to us on Facebook or Twitter – both @YourOakleyVale – and we will share and even incorporate them into the website.

We have done something like this before with our Oakley Vale ‘I love it here…’ profiles but we want to take it in new directions and we want to do it with your assistance. So send us the reason you moved to Oakley Vale, or the reason you’ve found the area a great place to live – nothing is too big or small.

What’s On?

Finally here’s a look at what’s coming up near Oakley Vale – including some brilliant heritage events:

Vikings of Middle England at Rockingham Castle: August Bank Holiday is sure to creep up on us, and one definite date for the diary is the return of the Vikings of Middle England to Rockingham Castle. There will be exciting re-enactments of battles, the opportunity to try your hand at Archery and tradesmen making weapons and brewing medicines. A very exciting day for all the family.

Corby Highland Gathering: 50 Years Exhibition – Sat 30th June – Sat 6th October – Corby Highland Gathering is celebrating 50 years of Highland Dance competitions and all things associated with the Scottish tradition of a gathering.  Corby Heritage Centre will have artefacts and history telling the story of Corby’s cultural links to this fascinating event.
