Corby Clean & Proud

Happy Friday everybody!

As another week draws to a close, we bring you a story about the Great Oakley Group’s green campaign in Corby – Corby Clean & Proud, as well as the usual weekly round-up of our picks from the many exciting things to do in Corby coming up in the next week.

Corby Clean & Proud partners with Tata Steel

First there’s some news from a nearby campaign that was launched this year. Corby Clean & Proud is a business-led campaign that is looking to raise awareness about the issue of litter in Corby. This week they announced a partnership with major local employer Tata Steel through a £5000 grant from the company. The funding was donated through Tata Steel’s Community Partnership Programme, which has the aim of supporting and enriching local communities.

Currently, around thirty million tonnes of litter have to be collected and disposed of each year in England alone, at a cost of almost £1 billion to taxpayers. The campaign hopes to raise awareness of this issue by encouraging businesses to take the C.L.E.A.N pledge – with this grant funding they hope to take the campaign to the wider community and schools.
