So buckle-up and let’s get into it!
Halloween haunts and bonfire bonanzas!
Today marks another Halloween and another year of fun costumes, trick or treaters and maybe a horror movie marathon for the brave among you. It also means bonfire night is around the corner!
While you may have plans tonight, or maybe a party at the weekend – there’s plenty to do if you’re lost for ideas with the family. Our picks of the bunch are happening today and across the week:
Spooky Trains @ Corby & District Model Railway Society
Taking place from 6pm on October 31st and November 2nd – this event offers ghost rides and a chance to have a lap of the model trains. You can also take your time and admire the wonderful model railways that the society have developed over the years.
Halloween Fun @ Rockingham Castle
We can safely say that castles are among the spookiest locations in the world – and this week, Rockingham Castle is no different! The witches are back to lead a spooktacular series of activities between 11am – 4pm on Friday 1st November – including pumpkin rollings, biscuit decorating, quizzes & trails in the Gardens and Castle!
Corby Bonfire Night w/ Made In Corby
On Sunday (3rd Nov), Made in Corby will be making this year’s bonfire night celebrations even more spectacular than usual.
They’ll be animating the paths and roads around the boating lake with a range of extraordinary performances and installations. Keep an eye out for an announcement of which artists will be joining and where to find them! The times for the night are below:
- 6.30pm Torchlit procession starts at Corby Pool
- 7.00pm Lighting of the bonfire
- 7.30pm Fireworks
Don’t forget you can find more fun things going on in and around Oakley Vale by visiting our ‘What’s On?’ page – which we recently updated for November!
The prize in our Photo Competition
Over the last few months, we have been collecting your submissions to our latest photo competition – which looks to showcase the best of Oakley Vale through the photos taken by the people who call it home – that’s you!
We received lots of great submissions and they were all worthy winners – but only one can come out on top and our winning photo was a wonderful shot by local resident Wendy Burke!
A huge congratulations to Wendy for a great photo showing the lakes of Oakley Vale and the wildlife that calls this area home too.
If you didn’t win this time, or would like to enter, then don’t worry! Next month we’ll be announcing the latest theme for our next competition – so keep snapping away and keep your eyes peeled for news.
