The highly-anticipated A-Level and GCSE results day finally arrived this month after an incredibly turbulent year due to Covid-19. Despite the many challenges and ongoing difficulties, students across Oakley Vale proudly opened up their envelopes and celebrated an excellent set of results! This month, we would like to celebrate their efforts, announce the winner of our latest photo competition and thank you all for your response to our community survey. So, lets get right down to it!
Student Success
It’s no surprise that Oakley Vale’s local school, Brooke Weston Academy, did exceptionally well, yet again on both GCSE and A-Level results day, despite a truly unforgettable year!
Three sixth form students, Dominik Cusk, Joel Camara and Emily Brown achieved a staggering 11 A*s between them and will leave the Academy for the prestigious Cambridge University!
Other top performers include Rajan Khunti and Meg Maguire, who both achieved three A* or A grades. Rajan will be moving to study mathematics at the University of Durham, whilst Meg is moving on to study creative industries at York. Amazingly, a further eleven students at the Academy achieved a grade profile consisting of A* and A grades!
You can read more about them here.
A week later, this time for GCSE results day, Brooke Weston Academy once again recorded outstanding results! Top performing students included Daniel Nicholson, Molayo Olugbile and Oliver Hackett who collectively achieved twenty seven grade 9’s and will stay on at the Academy for their A-Levels.
A statement from the school said: “We are thrilled that the vast majority of our students will remain at Brooke Weston Academy for their Sixth Form education and we look forward to welcoming them back next month. We are also delighted for the students who have secured the destinations of their choice. This includes several students who are going to join the Armed Forces and a number who have been successful in gaining apprenticeships with a range of local and national employers. We are proud of all of our students and wish them every success in the future.”

Well done Brooke Weston Academy, you have done Oakley Vale and the whole community proud!

The future looks bright for Oakley Vale!
Finally, we just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of you who took the time to respond to our local community survey. We were overwhelmed to receive almost 900 responses and we couldn’t be happier! Now, these will be collated and passed on to Great Oakley to be taken into account when drawing up more detailed plans for the new local centre.
The future of Oakley Vale really does look bright and full of promise thanks to you!
All that is left to say is that we hope everyone has a great month, and continues to stay safe. See you next month for our October blog!
