Hello and welcome to the June addition of the Oakley Vale blog! Summer has well and truly arrived – although you couldn’t tell with some of the rain we’ve had, the world is full of bright colours, everything around is flourishing, the birds are singing, and there’s lots more to do and see in Oakley Vale.
Plus, there’s plenty to look forward to later in the month when (hopefully) the Government will announce the final round of easing Covid-19 restrictions – here’s hoping! But for now, we have lots to cover so let’s get right down to it.
Share your views in our survey!
Back in April, you may remember that we announced our plans for a survey to get more of your opinions on how our website and social channels can best serve the local Oakley Vale community. Well, we’re delighted to announce that it’s now finished and covers questions on our website, social media, and how Covid-19 has impacted your habits and hobbies.
The survey takes ten minutes to complete and we want to get as many responses as possible, so please do get involved, answer as truthfully as you can – and then share it far and wide! It will help us ensure you’re the one driving forward change.
You can take the survey by clicking here!
An extension on our photo competition
We can also announce that our ever-popular photo competition deadline has been extended! The new deadline is now Monday 14th June and gives you one last chance at winning that £50. The £50 prize is also matched by an equal donation to the Oakley Vale Community Association, so what are you waiting for?
For those of you who don’t know, our current theme is Nature & Wildlife. Have you taken any great nature or wildlife photos recently? Maybe you’ve captured some summertime wildlife emerging for the first time this year in your garden? If you have, then we want to see! Anyone can enter – simply submit your photos on the competition page here.
We’ve already received some fantastic shots which you can see for yourself below!
Events return to Oakley Vale!
The arrival June of marks the next and final step in the Government’s plan to guide us out of the Covid-19 restrictions. As always, we wanted to give you an overview on what these new changes actually mean so you can stay safe and informed. From June 21st:
- All legal limits on social contact will be lifted
- Nightclubs and music venues will reopen
- Larger events will be allowed to resume without limited crowds
This means that some of Oakley Vale’s most popular spots can re-open in full and finally welcome us all back with open arms once again! The Corby Cube are re-opening for live shows from Friday 11 June, including interactive murder mystery Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote, Pecho Mama’s visceral fringe hit Medea Electronica, family friendly Comedy Club 4 Kids and Spontaneous Potter Kidz and a one-off Elvis and Neil Diamond extravaganza from Corby legend Fisher Stevens. To find out more, visit the link here.
And if your workplace is still working from home, fear not… The Harpers Brook Pub have introduced new ‘Pub Desk spaces’ available Monday to Friday until 5pm. Take advantage of a quiet table next to a plug socket with free WiFi, plus enjoy a delicious lunch while you work from the special Pub Desk menu with unlimited drinks served to you by a friendly team throughout the day, all for just £10. All that’s left to say is that we hope everyone has a great June! Remember to keep smiling, stay safe and enjoy the new-found freedom – see you in July!
