Hello and welcome to our September blog! This month, we look back over the last couple of weeks and celebrate the long-awaited A-Level and GCSE results day. It was another difficult year due to Covid-19, lockdowns, and restrictions but we’re so proud of our students across Oakley Vale who proudly opened up their envelopes and celebrated another excellent set of results!
We also want to share some exciting events which are happening across Oakley Vale this month and thank you all for your responses to our community survey. So, lets get right down to it!
Superb student success
Once again, Oakley Vale’s local school, Brooke Weston Academy, did exceptionally well and secured some outstanding GCSE and A-Level results!
On A-Level results day, top performing students included Matthew Leer, Matish Parmar, Kacper Wieckowski and Aleksa Trkulja, who collectively achieved an incredible twelve A* grades! Matthew is off to the University of Bath to study Architecture, Kacper is going to the prestigious University of Cambridge to study Natural Science, and Matish is going to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Warwick.
Two days later it was a similar story for GCSE results day! Highflyers included Louis Bereton, Matthew Russell, Finley Short and Tilly West who all achieved grade 9s in every subject!
Fellow students, Stefan Mariciuc, Rufus Matthew, Grace McClintock, Olivia Kopania and Nicola Edge all achieved grades 7, 8 and 9 across all subjects, and are looking forwarding to starting Sixth Form at Brooke Weston Academy.
The academy’s Principal, Shaun Strydom said: “All of our students have worked incredibly hard throughout this difficult period, and we are so proud of their achievements. In particular, I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our staff for their ongoing efforts and for the support and motivation they have provided to our students during this time. Even though students have faced many challenges this year, we feel they have handled themselves exceptionally well throughout, and their results are a reflection of this. We will be available to provide support and assistance to all students that require it in the coming weeks and wish everyone leaving us the best of luck in their future endeavours.”
Elsewhere, Corby Business Academy celebrated an excellent set of A-Level results with some fantastic individual achievements.
Jonathan Hartley achieved three A*s in Business, Mathematics and in Psychology and is going on to study Industrial Economics at the University of Nottingham. Fellow student, Igor Pereszczako achieved two A*s in Chemistry and Mathematics and an A in Biology and is going on to study Medicine at Anglia Ruskin University. Well done Corby Business Academy!
