Happy October everyone!
It feels like September came and went in a flash didn’t it? But it was a month we won’t forget quickly. The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth marked a momentous moment in our nation’s history and it was quite something to see the outpouring in response from out local community and around the world.
Now we look to a new month and its the spookiest of the year. We’ll share some of the activities happening locally this Halloween, as well as lots of lovely news to share as the community spirit has continued. Let’s get stuck in!
Enter our photo competition and win £50!
First, a quick reminder that our photo competition is open for entries! The latest theme is all things Autumnal and we’ll be accepting initial entries until October 31st.
You don’t have to be a professional photographer to enter, or to win – it’s all about capturing the spirit of the theme. Bonus points for getting creative – but as you can see from our last winner, sometimes nature does all the work.
Oakley Vale Rangers clean the streets!
You may have seen them out in the streets and in the fields of Oakley Vale, hi-vis jackets glowing in the autumn light and pickers snapping at the ground in a frenzy. Who are they? They’re our Oakley Vale Rangers!
Communities are built when everyone rallies round to love, cherish and care for the places we call home and nothing epitomises that more than the Oakley Vale Rangers, who supported the Safer Communities Team at North Northants council in a big clean up last week.
We want to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to the Oakley Vale Rangers young and… not so young! Thank you for getting out there and keeping Oakley Vale looking beautiful.
Next time you see the Rangers out and about, say hey and thank you – and go even further by taking your litter home, or putting it in the bin.
A show of community from Oakley Vale Primary School
There’s no avoiding that times are difficult for many right now – and the news can seem overwhelmingly bad. So we thought we’d share this little moment from Oakley Vale Primary School.
The school had some leftover cakes from its Friday cake sale and instead of letting them go or throwing them away – they made the decision to give them to the NHS team at Sandalwood Court. Sometimes it’s small gestures of community like this that keep us all going.
