It’s November, which means it’s officially time to dig out your favourite woolly hat and scarf! At least it should be… but it has been unseasonably warm this Autumn.
Halloween was a whirlwind of pumpkin picking, spooky frocks and sugary goodness. Despite the warmer weather, there was still that eerie chill that seems to fill the air each year which made the plentiful events around Corby extra scary.
October also saw some incredible community spirit, particularly when Oakley Vale Ranges teamed together and showed their support in a big clean-up. Oakley Vale is looking beautiful – let’s keep it that way by taking your litter home or putting it in the bin as we head into November.
Read on for news about the photo competition, a great story about local donations to Ukraine and What’s On this November, especially if a crackling bonfire and spectacular fireworks are your thing!
We’re extending our photo competition to the end of the month – so you still have a chance to win that £50!
If you haven’t yet had the chance to send in a photo, you might be relieved to know that there is still time as we have pushed the deadline to accept entries until November 21st.
The theme is Autumn in Oakley Vale – so wrap up, get out there and grab some final snaps of Autumn! You never know. You could be our next winner!
Oakley Vale Community Association and Corby Silver Band teamed up and raised £4,000 for a Ukrainian Charity
Back in March, a market stall collection point for donations was set up in Corby town centre making it easy for people to drop off vital supplies – including baby food and medical supplies.
Decorated in Ukrainian blue and yellow flags, two stalls were set up and welcomed donations from the town – before they were packed into cardboard boxes ready for transporting to Ukraine. Following the market stalls, a concert was organized with an aim of continuing to raise more money. The Corby Silver Band, The Decibelles Ladies Choir, and Deep Roots Tall Trees Choir all performed in summer. Their music warmed up the whole of The Core at Corby Cube.
100 percent of the proceeds will support nurseries in Ukraine.
This was all made possible by Oakley Vale Community Association chair and Corby Silver Band drummer, Paul Balmer, along with Katie Hodgson, Julia Kovalesvska and her family who handed over the cheque to Family of Christ Ukraine.

Future developments update
Now an update on future development progress at Oakley Vale.
North Northamptonshire Council approved the sale of Phase 8 at Oakley Vale to the chosen partner of Great Oakley Farms, Keepmoat Homes, at its Executive committee on 25th August 2022.
Great Oakley Farms will enter a design development process with Keepmoat Homes to ensure the design of the new development will be in keeping with the design codes and the great standard of homes we have already in Oakley Vale.
Keepmoat Homes will be preparing to submit a reserved matters planning application for 270 new homes which will hopefully be determined by North Northamptonshire Council to enable a site start in early to mid 2023. Phase 8 will deliver those 270 new homes, alongside a new North Northamptonshire Council primary school, more public open space, and local centre.
