Local air Scout leader from Corby invited to King’s Coronation – plus where to watch near Oakley Vale

A long weekend of good food and good company is behind us… but wait… there’s another on the horizon!

We’re spoilt for bank holidays this year. But it doesn’t look like anyone will be able to top what’s in store for Robert Moore – a local Corby Air Scout Leader, who will spend Saturday seated in the nave of the Abbey for the King’s Coronation.

Not to worry, though… We have tips on how to enjoy the day regardless of your view, with some royal recipes and tips for some bank holiday fun – whether you’re an avid follower of the Royals, or you’re just looking forward to a longer break.

Corby-based Robert invited to the King’s Coronation

We’re raising a cuppa to Corby’s finest, Robert Moore, who received a gold-plated invitation to the King’s Coronation from Buckingham Palace. Robert has been invited in recognition of his commendable community and charity work – but almost missed the invitation of a lifetime after mistaking it for spam!

He makes up one of 450 other community champions from around the UK awarded British Empire Medals (BEM) who will be guests at the ceremony. Robert said: “I’m so proud to be selected. The eyes of the world are going to be on us. It will be a piece of history. I could be the only Corby person in the abbey. Where I’m going to be seated they will all process past us.”
